Whether you are new to online marketing or an existing online marketer or network marketer, you need to understand the importance of continuously building a list. This is a list of people’s email addresses; that’s simply people who have given you permission to contact them through email.

The perfect list is an online list of laser targeted and highly qualified people whose details you have generated, and who WANT to hear from you. This means that they opted into your list out of choice and want to receive your information, content and training. If these people have opted-in to your list then it’s safe to assume that they want to hear from you.

WHAT’S THE POINT IN LIST BUILDING?

When you have succeeded in building a list which is “responsive” you will have created the power to generate money on demand, sign up distributors at will, and promote anything you want. It’s extremely powerful. But more than that, you will have created strong connections with other like-minded individuals that may last for years to come.

List building allows you to create and build connections, and long term trust and relationships with your prospects over a period of time. To do this you need to be continuously providing genuine value and information.

You can provide value by sending them to training videos, or blog posts that help solve their problems. i.e. how to generate leads, how to sponsor people, how to create cash flow etc. When you build long term trust you will be able to market yourself, your opportunity and affiliate products to them and people will be more responsive because they know you and like you. This is great because it then gives you the opportunity to help them achieve their goals. List building is fun when you know you are helping others.

An important thing to remember when list building is this:

People still prefer to do business with people they like, know and trust. The rules haven’t changed for hundreds of years and never will!

Is Bigger Always Better?

The answer to this question is sometimes yes and sometimes no. There are marketers out there with huge lists of subscribers, and there are marketers with relatively small lists that are earning significantly more than the big list owners. Why? The best list is a “responsive” list and responsiveness is created by the value you provide to your subscribers. Responsiveness is also directly correlated to your earnings so you should always be aiming towards building a list that is responsive.

Why Should You Take Care of Your List?

If you treat people on your list well, then they will treat you well. That means that they are likely to do business with you, or maybe even join your primary company. Never abuse the people on your list. Don’t spam your list continuously with direct selling tactics that offer no value as that will annoy them. When building a list you should always be aiming to provide content that will be of value and which they will look forward to receiving.

Building a list is important because when you want to make money, all you have to do is connect your list with products and services that they are ALREADY looking for, or to your primary business if its a good fit.

List Building – How To Do It Right

On your blog/website, you need to make it as easy as possible for your potential subscriber to opt in to your site. Have highly visible and easy to view opt in boxes that will give great free content that they will want. I have a big opt in box with a free training video on my home page and at the bottom of the home page and also another at the bottom of every blog post. I really want people to join my list because I genuinely believe they will benefit from the value I intend to provide. These opt in boxes allow me to be building a list every day on auto-pilot.

Go to work and start list building consistently. If you take the time to understand how to build a highly responsive list you will churn out sales and sign ups whilst you sleep. When you have a highly converting funnel and you have leads that you are driving to those funnels, and you have traffic that you are driving to your websites, people will be moving through your funnel and they are going to buy, and they are going to join you.

ACTION STEPS – LIST BUILDING

1)      Pick a strategy that resonates with you and drive traffic to your lead capture page and/or your blog i.e. whether its video marketing, blogging, article marketing, facebook, twitter, whatever it is, just do it immediately.

2)      Market daily and consistently, keep testing and tweaking and finding out what gives you the best results.

3)      Stay plugged in to the power source. If you are part of a community then get involved in their webinars, the wake up calls, the mindset calls.  Just absorb and stay connected because it will give you ideas and strategies that only the top earners are using for list building and for marketing generally.
